This site serves as a feasibility study to determine whether a house in Berkeley, California, merits a nomination as a city landmark. AshbyPlace is neither the largest nor the most architecturally distinctive home, but its significance lies in something unique—something that sets it apart in a city as distinctive as Berkeley. As the only house remaining on a wedge-shaped island created by a major 1941 street realignment, AshbyPlace represents a rare and tangible piece of the city’s planning history. This study aims to explore and highlight what makes AshbyPlace worthy of recognition.
